The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is the government organisation responsible for delivering the NDIS. The NDIA determines eligibility, develops and approves NDIS plans, manages participant funding, and works to ensure the Scheme operates fairly and effectively across Australia.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government program that provides funding to eligible people with permanent and significant disabilities, helping them access the supports and services they need to achieve their goals, build independence, and participate in everyday life.

You may be eligible for the NDIS if you: Are under 65 years of age when you apply. Are an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa. Have a permanent and significant disability that substantially affects your ability to complete everyday activities and means you are likely to need disability supports for the rest of your life. The NDIA assesses each application individually to determine whether a person meets the eligibility requirements. Nothing. Plan Management is fully funded by the NDIS for participants who have Plan Management included in their plan, so there are no out-of-pocket costs to you. Our Plan Management fees are paid separately by the NDIS and do not reduce the funding available for your supports and services.

If you are new to NDIS you simply advise the NDIS Planner or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) during your Planning Meeting that you would like your NDIS funding to be plan managed. If your NDIS Plan was issued before 1 January 2024, email your current Plan Manager to let them know you'd like to change Plan Managers. Simply provide your name and NDIS number, there's no need to give a reason. In most cases, funds are released within 30 days, although this may happen sooner if requested.
